A long day, this Saturday. Morning starts with the Special Needs World Judo Games, the shiai for levels 1-3. Although we had some software trouble in the beginning of the morning, we got on top of those and we can look back on a flawless tournament and we hope with happy participants!
Kata in the afternoon!
The afternoon was for the kata people among us- we have seen many great performances and the opinion here is that the level is rising every year! The kata tournament ended with a fun ju-nō-kata workshop by Ruud van Zwieten and Koen Vermeule, the current Dutch champions, and after that we saw three versions of koshiki-nō-kata: First a regular performance by Tomas Rundqvist and Tycho van der Werff, second one by Cees Roest (sitting on the ground) and Janienke Roelfzema, and the last was a performance by Tycho van der Werff and Danny Hoogetoorn (sitting in a wheelchair). All three (but especially the last two) demonstrated that nothing is impossible with some creativity and above all a lot of persistence!
While we tried to take pictures of each and every one of the pools, we may have missed some.
While this is written, downstairs in Assumburg Castle the Saturday Afterparty is raging! Check our Instagram account @SNJUDONL for pictures and video!
